In 2024, the Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP) launched a province-wide recognition campaign to celebrate the vital role of family doctors in communities across the province. We asked Ontarians one simple question: “How has your family physician gone above and beyond for you?”
The response was extraordinary. More than 750 family physicians across Ontario were recognized by their patients for the compassionate, dedicated, and life-changing care they provide every day.
From small towns to big cities, Ontarians are sharing heartfelt words of gratitude. Explore the inspiring stories below and see the incredible impact family doctors are making across the province.

Patients across Ontario were invited, by the Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP), to nominate their family doctors for a patient recognition award. The award’s purpose is to recognize the outstanding and dedicated care physicians provide to their communities.

Tell us about the positive impact your family physician has had on your health, the health of your family and your life. Based on your submission, the Ontario College of Family Physicians may send your family physician a certificate of recognition.
Advocate for family medicine
Throughout this campaign, we have also heard from people across Ontario who do not have a family doctor – and want one. We are calling on Ontarians without a family doctor to sign up for our mailing list to support future advocacy efforts.
